11/18/23- Local ski resorts have announced delayed openings due to a lack of natural snow. Boreal is open with 2 runs open and others are currently making snow and waiting till after Thanksgiving to open.

4/12/23 The great snows that we have experienced this winter are allowing resorts to remain open longer to allow for some greart spring skiing, snowboarding and snow shoeing.

4/20/2022 The flowers are blooming and summer season activities including hiking, biking, golfing… are being scheduled. After a 2 year hiatus, the 4th of July fireworks will be back at the West End of Donner Lake.
3/20/22 Following the crazy December storms with 10 feet of snow then a dry January and February, we have received a couple of light snows, but it appears that we will be having an early Spring with snows melting and flowers blooming starting in April.
9/8/2021 We are happy to report that we have not and currently are NOT impacted by the Dixie, Caldor or Lawrence fires. Fire containment continues and South Lake Tahoe evacuation orders have been lifted. Our air is clear and in healthy range with blue skies, and great daytime temperatures. Interstate 80 remains completely open and we are fully accessible.

7/20/2021 Plan now to see the 2021 Perseid meteor shower -expected to produce the greatest number of meteors on the mornings of August 11, 12 and 13 according to the American Meteor Society with no moonlight to ruin the show. No special equipment is required to watch the show and our open, dark sky is ideal for an unobstructed view.
7/15/21 Covid regulations have been relaxed, though we are continuing to assure a safe stay for all guests and staff!

5/20/19 Plenty of June activities are on the books including the CrawThaw, Truckee Running Festival, & 150 year Golden Spike celebration the first weekend in June. June 6 to June 8 features the Dirt Fondo Cycling Event & Festival. June 8th is the date for the 14th Annual Truckee Brew Fest, & Thursday June 13th, we kick off 12th year of “Truckee Thursdays”. Celebrate the Transcontinental Railroad 150 year anniversary with various events and activities every Saturday in June.
5/13/19 After a great Winter, the snows are melting, the lake filling, flowers blooming and the Town of Truckee readying for a Spring, Summer and Fall full of exciting events. 12/2/18 After several days of snow, most ski resorts have opened for the season. Yesterday, we had a real treat- our guests watched a bear walk up the driveway during a snow storm, and today the sun is out and the lake provided some amazing reflective photographs- See our Facebook page.
8/16/18- The 2018 Annual Donner Party Hike will be held on September 15 & 16. Starts just a short distance from the Donner Lake Inn B & B. Learn about and share in the history of the Donner Party. Information is available at http://donnerpartyhike.com
7/10/18 – The July 4th Holiday was celebrated at Donner Lake with the annual daytime parade and nighttime fireworks show over the lake. Both were enjoyed by our guests. We are already completely booked for the upcoming Donner Lake Triathlon weekend of July 21-22. We just received the days for the 15th annual Truckee Wine Walk & Shop scheduled for Saturday October 6th. We are always completely booked for this event, so plan early if you are considering staying with us.
6/18/18 – The results are in and we are thrilled to have taken 3rd place in the 2018 Sacramento A list Best Bed and Breakfast for Northern California!!!
6/13/18 – We are pleased to have had “Our deck” featured in the July issue of the California Association of Boutique & Breakfast Inns newsletter. “The Donner Lake Inn features a 30-foot deck facing the forest and lake. 5/30/18 – The Summer Season has started with boaters on the lake, cyclists & hikers on the trails. The annual Independence Day fireworks show at the lake is scheduled for 9:15pm on July 4th, as well as the parade in downtown Truckee, earlier in the day.

4/12/18-A FREE New Orleans-inspired spring event, the 2018 TRUCKEE CRAW THAW MUSIC FESTIVAL APRIL 27-28 will bring a diverse lineup of American roots-inspired musicians, cajun cuisine and family fun to historic downtown Truckee, California April 27 & 28, 2018. Bands include The Easy Leaves, Jazz Mafia Accomplices, Miss Tess & The Talkbacks, Otis McDonald.

2/10/18 – The Town of Truckee has just announced two new exciting events for the Spring: A. The Truckee Craw Thaw, Beer & Music Festival will be held in downtown Truckee the weekend of April 27th, and 28th. The SaganFondo Dirt Edition Biking event featuring three-time world champion cyclist Peter Sagan, will be held in Truckee May 3-5, 2018. As a lodging partner with the Town of Truckee, The Donner Lake Inn will be offering a 10% discount to registrants who book a stay for either or both these events by March 30th- Call for details or book online and mention TOT18 to receive the discount.

12/28/17- To better manage mountain crowds and provide greater discounts, Sugar Bowl Ski Resort has changed their ticketing process with lodging partners. In past seasons, we had discounted tickets available at the Donner Lake Inn B & B, but in an attempt to offer greater discounts we now have a widget on our website for preordering of lift tickets. The further in advance you order, the greater the discount. Royal Gorge is awaiting opening after the next big storm-projected for mid January to provide adequate cover.
12/12/17- The Town of Truckee and its many sponsors are pleased to announce there will be a free shuttle service in many areas including Donner Lake, with a stop across from the Donner Lake Inn B & B during the holiday period from December 26th(12PM) to January 1st (2AM). Shuttles will run daily from 12PM until 2AM, so visitors can forget the traffic and parking hassles, allowing everyone to enjoy one of Truckee’s most festive times of the year! 11/21/17- Snow Season 2017-18 – The Adventure Awaits
Weather permitting, by the end of November and moving into 2018, nearly all of the trails at all the local ski resorts will be open. Both die-hard and novice skiing and snowboarding fanatics should be pleased by this news, especially those who may receive new boards or skis over the holidays. Truckee/Tahoe skiing is unquestionably some of the best you will find in the West.
If you happen to be a fan of the Farmer’s Almanac, this winter’s predictions are calling for another “Snowy and Cold” season. But don’t let that stop you from enjoying a great snow trip to Truckee! 7/2/17 We have one room queen room available for the night of July 4th. Just a 3 minute walk across the street to watch the annual fireworks display over Donner Lake. 
3/26/17 The recent snowfall did it!!! Local ski resorts are reporting over 700 inches of snowfall this season. Mt. Rose Ski Resort and Sugar Bowl Ski Resort were the first to report surpassing the 700 inch level. As the snow melts in the Spring, there will be some great opportunities for white water rafting on the Truckee River.
3/11/17 Daylight Savings Time, A Full Moon, and > 650 inches of snow… Many resorts are planning on extending the winter season this year- talks abound of skiing through the July 4th Holiday. Spring skiing will be here for awhile. The Town of Truckee has planned a number of summer events- Be sure to look at look at the chamber website for specific dates and events.
11/28/16 We’ve got SNOW!
Thanks to Mother Nature, the first real powder of the season has fallen! A couple feet of fresh, fluffy snow fell over the past weekend and reports indicate there’s more on the way! Nearby Sugar Bowl and Royal Gorge opened last Friday with top to bottom skiing and multiple XC trails open. The nightly mountain snow-makers have been busy creating a fantastic base covered by our recent powder. Come up to Truckee and get your SKI on!
10/24/16 The results are in and once again, we are pleased to announce that Donner Lake Inn B & B finished in the top 3 of the Best of Sacramento Bed & Breakfasts. We were also a finalist once again for the 2016 Truckee Chamber of Commerce Hospitality Award. Our Partner, Zenergy Massage and Wellness in Historic Old Town Truckee is offering 10% off all massages through December 15th. The ski resorts have started hiring for the season and the annual Truckee ski swap is set for November 5th. Keep an eye out for an upcoming special being posted on our Facebook page.
8/26/16 We are down to the last two days of voting for the Best of Sacramento A List. The Donner Lake Inn is listed under weddings and it looks like the voting is very close. 8/8/16 This weekend is the 36th Annual Donner Lake Swim. The start/finish line are just around the corner from us- a 5 minute walk. As of this morning, we have 2 rooms available for Saturday night. If not participating in the Swim, consider an overnight getaway from the Valley Heat, and take advantage of all the area has to offer. If you are interested in a stay with us, call us directly as soon as possible as our availability will not remain long.
